Every crab season the days begin with fishermen taking to the waters before the break of dawn and giving their all until they make way back to the harbor with the beautiful sunset as a backdrop, fulfilling the dining demand.
Crisfield is home to the National Hard Crab Derby, derived from the crabbing industry. This Labor Day weekend homecoming festival celebrates all aspects of the lifestyle, drawing people from all over the nation. Festivities include a crustacean beauty queen, picking & cooking contests, crab races, and even a boat docking contest between the crab boat captains.
